Aston Villa vs Manchester United: United's Starting XI?

It is 9th against 11th in the Sunday lunchtime kick-off as Manchester United travel down the M6 to Aston Villa in the English Premier League, with the biggest injury news to come out of United’s camp with Robin van Persie out for at least a month with a thigh injury picked up midweek against Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Manchester United team that will take to the pitch at Villa Park will be different to the one that beat Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday, with hopefully Patrice Evra slotting back into the left back position, to link up with Adnan Januzaj down the wing. Hopefully on the right hand side Rafael will be able to link up with either Valencia or Luis Nani.

unhappy-jonny-evansSo … starting from the back, of course Manchester United’s number one has to be Spanish Dave – With a back line in front of him that would include Rafael Da Silva, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and Alexander Buttner. Moyes has confirmed that Chris Smalling (Hamstring) and Nemanja Vidic (Knock) are very much a doubt for the Aston Villa match.

Moving into midfield and starting with the wingers, Adnan Janzaj would my first choice on the left hand side with Antonio Valencia start down the right, coming into the middle of the park and with Marouane Fellaini likely to miss the weekends action due to his bruised back, Phil Jones and Tom Cleverley to take up the middle positions.

wayne-rooney-scores-against-tottenham-hotspurThe question that David Moyes has to make up top is whether to keep United’s top goalscorer Wayne Rooney furthest forward with Shinji Kagawa just behind him in the number ten role, or move Rooney slightly back and place Javier Hernandez, who scored a second half hat-trick last season at Villa Park, up top. Personally I would do for Shinji Kagawa in his preferred number ten role with Rooney furthest forward to link up.

Robin van Persie is out for a month due to a thigh injury which he picked up taking a corner against Shakhtar Donetsk last Tuesday.

Ideal team to face Aston Villa:

De Gea;

Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Buttner;

Valencia, Jones, Cleverley, Januzaj;

Kagawa;

Rooney

The 4-4-1-1 formation will make it a lot easier for United to compete with Aston Villa in the midfield and should see United have some success with Valencia and Januzaj attacking down the wings.

Three points on Sunday would be a great way to make up for the dropped points against Everton and Newcastle in recent weeks, confidence is what Manchester United need at the moment.

Shitty line up! This constant change of players will only make us slip further down the table, mark my words
——— De Gea ——-
Rafael – Smalling – Jones – Evans
— Anderson – Cleverley —
Januzaj — Kagawa — Rooney
—— van Persie ——-
introduce Nani/Hernandez in case of any injuries to the front four…
Stick with this team throughout the christmas period where the games will come thick & fast, then watch us get into top four by January!

Jones needs to stop being played as a midfielder!!!!

de gea
Rafael smalling jones evra
Valencia Kagawa Anderson janujaz
Rooney hernandez

Kagawa needs to be given a deeper role, Utd need better build up play from the back and he is perfect for that, hes like scholes, better attacker moving into the box and helping to build play, not a winger or striker which are the positions hes being put in!!!

Yes, Robin van Persie is out for a month due to a thigh injury, Moyes also says that Michael Carrick is around 2 weeks away from returning (achilles). Vidic, Evra (knocks), Fellaini (back) & Smalling (hamstring) are out.

Consider this. Just replace Cleverley with, say, Roy Keane. Imagine Roy or Patrick Vieira or even Yaya Toure in place of Cleverley. Then can you feel something in that team? That’s right! We need a leader that will carry the team by the scruff of the neck or otherwise. We need a dose of inspiration up in there. There is nothing of that sort in the current squad, Mr. Moyes..

David – Rafael, Jonny, Vida, Patrice – Andy, Jones – Antonio, Shinji, Adnan – Wazza….COME ON UNITED! My predictions 1-3

I think the formation given is pretty good, but chicharito and giggs should play at some point. Giggs gives that creativity and javier is a natural no 9.

The line up is nt bad let give a chance n surpot mr moyes in this tough time.lets show other team that we r man utd n we r real unite

De Gea
Rafael Evans Ferdinand Buttner/Fabio
Zaha Jones Anderson Januzaj
Kagawa/Rooney
Rooney/Chicarito

442 formation.
tempo > high attacking
