David De Gea made a fantastic one handed save to keep Manchester United in the game against Sunderland in the first half, with former United legend Peter Schmeichel stating it was one of the best saves he had ever seen.
David De Gea denied a powerful header from Sunderland’s Emanuele Giaccherini, preventing Sunderland extending their lead to 2-0 before half time.
Manchester United went on to win the game 2-1 with two fantastic strikes from starlet Adnan Januzaj [watch his goal here] and Peter Schmeichel admits that it is one of the best saves he has ever seen.
The great Dane said:
“He’s got to look at the ball, follow the ball and he has to readjust and come back. This is for me one of the best saves I’ve ever seen in the Premier League.
“And it can prove to be one of the most important moments as well. That could be the kickstart.”
After United’s 2-1 victory, Reds boss David Moyes added:
“It was an incredible save. We had been playing quite well but at 1-0 down they managed to spring a few counter attacks on us and David made an incredible save.
“I said it at half time that David De Gea might have kept us in this game with that save.”
