Raphael Varane post on Instagram shuts down transfer rumours

Raphael Varane has this morning, posted a picture of himself on social media Instragram kissing the Manchester United badge, hopefully putting an end to the transfer rumours that would see him move to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United’s Raphael Varane had been the radar of Al-Ittihad from the Saudi Pro League, despite being one of the first on the team sheet for Erik ten Hag.

But, on a post this morning on Instagram he is seen kissing the clubs badge, and a post that Manchester United have liked and reposted on their Twitter account.

This rumours of his transfer away came after Manchester United’s recent 2-0 setback against Tottenham Hotspur, during which Varane took the field for the full 90 minutes.

The Saudi Pro League has been causing quite a stir in recent transfer windows. Over the past nine months, they’ve managed to attract several footballing heavyweights.

Notable stars such as Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema are set to grace Saudi pitches next season. Now, there was a keen interest in adding Varane to this star-studded lineup.

Saudi sports journalist Nawaf Oga suggests that Al-Ittihad are in the early stages of negotiations with Manchester United for Varane. The club already boasts French stars like Benzema and N’golo Kante in their squad and recently added ex-Liverpool ace, Fabinho.

Moreover, whispers in the football world suggest Varane had shown some interest in a move to the Saudi Pro League. This is in stark contrast to other rumours suggesting that while there has been interest, Varane is keen to stay in Europe for at least another year.

Varane’s commitment to Manchester United runs until 2025. He’s previously voiced that he sees his football journey concluding at either Old Trafford or his childhood club, Lens in France.
