Mason Greenwood offered £10million move to Al-Ettifaq

Saudi Arabia team Al-Ettifaq have reportedly set their sights on Mason Greenwood in the wake of news about his impending departure from Manchester United.

Following an extensive internal review, Manchester United has declared that the 21-year-old striker won’t be apart of their future plans after a mutual dismissal.

Earlier in February, Greenwood was cleared of allegations involving attempted rape, assault, and coercive behaviour. Recognising the situation, he concurs with United’s judgement and believes that a new chapter is essential for his professional journey.

The Sun suggests that Al-Ettifaq is contemplating a bid for the English player, who has represented his country once.

Now under the leadership of Liverpool great Steven Gerrard, and having secured the signature of former Reds skipper Jordan Henderson earlier this season, Al-Ettifaq has its eyes on another high-profile signing.

There’s talk that Mason Greenwood could be presented with an enticing £10 million yearly contract for a move to Saudi.

However, Al-Ettifaq aren’t alone in their interest. Top Italian clubs, including Roma, managed by Jose Mourinho, and major Turkish sides like Galatasaray, have expressed their intentions too.

Manchester United remain tight-lipped about whether they’ll cut ties with Greenwood or opt for a loan move.

His current agreement with Manchester United is set to continue until it runs out in 2025.

Rachel Riley has commented on United’s statement, along with a statement from Women’s Aid as she did previously mention that she would no longer support the club if he was to remain a player.

While the English transfer window concludes on 1st September 2023, there’s a longer window of opportunity with Saudi Arabia teams, lasting until 20th September 2023.

The above grants both Manchester United and Mason Greenwood some additional leeway to make a mutually beneficial decision regarding his future away from Manchester.
