Ander Herrera done deal

Manchester United are closing in on a deal to extend the contract of influential Spanish midfielder, Ander Herrera in a move that will catapult him into the bracket of the club’s highest earners. Jose Mourinho is keen to reward Herrera’s performances last season, as the Portuguese was impressed with the former Bilbao man’s application and commitment to improve on a steady basis.

The Red Devils are now willing to extend his contract on a mammoth £175k-a-week deal, in a bid to ward off the advances of Barcelona, who are willing to sign him as they look set to lose out on number 1 target, Marco Verratti.

Herrera is 10/1 who leave Athletic Bilbao to Manchester United
struggled for game time at the beginning of last season following the arrival of world record signing, Paul Pogba. Manager, Jose Mourinho struggled to find a way to balance his midfield, and United suffered for it at the beginning.

However, around October, he experimented with a trio of Carrick, Herrera and Pogba, which helped the club go on a 25-match unbeaten run, the best in the division for the whole of last season. New Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde is interested in a move for his former midfielder, after the pair worked at Atletico Bilbao prior to moving to Old Trafford back in 2014.

Under Louis Van Gaal, he was used in a variety of positions, but he didn’t impose himself enough to command regular playing time, but under Jose, he has become influential, helping to maintain balance in the middle of the park, as he is very good both defensively and offensively.

A particular performance stands out for Herrera last season, as he marked out Eden Hazard in a 2-0 victory over Chelsea back in April, in what was one of the greatest individual performances seen on the terraces of Old Trafford. A new deal is reward for his fantastic performances, and it is well deserved.
