Manchester United stars Depay and Blind fail to qualify for the Euros

After 4 wins, 1 draw, and 5 losses, the Netherlands have failed to qualify for the European Championships 2016. The Czech Republic, Iceland and Turkey all progressed to the next rounds of the tournament ahead of the Dutch.

In the final game, the Netherlands needed to win and Turkey to lose or draw for them to qualify. Not only did the Dutch lose 3-2 to a 10-man Czech team, but the Turkish also beat Iceland 1-0 with a man sent off.

Ex- Manchester United striker Robin van Persie scored an own goal on the 66th minute to put his country 3-0 down, and this was whilst the Czechs were down to 10 men. Late goals from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and RvP brought the game back to 3-2 but it was not enough for the men in Orange to qualify.

The result sees a huge decline from the Dutch World Cup team of 2014. Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal took the Netherlands all the way to the semi finals in Brazil, and won the match for third place.

This means that Manchester United players, Memphis Depay and Daley Blind, will not feature in the European Championships this summer.

However, they are both fit to feature for United in this Saturday’s Premier League match up against Everton.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
