Manchester United handed injury news boost as the league returns

Great news for Manchester United as midfielder Michael Carrick has returned to light training at AoN Training Complex following minor surgery on an achilles injury, according to the Daily Mail.

Following Manchester United’s impressive display in a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford, Carrick underwent a minor procedure to fix a troublesome achilles injury, surgery that was more than successful.

David Moyes will be delighted with the news that Carrick is recovering ahead of schedule, after returning to the AoN Training Complex on Wednesday morning for some light training away from the first team.

Carrick has been very much in the news this week, as he has reportedly put pen to paper on a new Manchester United contract, his current one was set to end at the end of the season. We imagine that the club will announce the new contract before the end of the week before United play Cardiff City on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters back in October, Carrick said:

“I’d love to carry on playing as long as possible at this club.

“It’s a fantastic club and I’ve had great times here. I feel good at the moment. I’ve just turned 32, so I’ve got a bit of time yet.”

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
