Thiago Alcântara has been the number one target for Manchester United in the transfer market over the past few weeks, a move that seems to be getting closer and closer.
The Barcelona midfielder, who had an impressive Euro 2013 for Spain in the under-21s, has reportedly agreed personal terms and wages with Manchester United and now just needs to finalize with Barcelona, stating that he wants to leave.
Thiago has now gone on a summer holiday and left transfer discussions to his Father and agent:
Alcantara’s father Mazinho, a former Brazil international, flew to Manchester on Thursday morning for discussions with Manchester United, discussions that went very well, by the end of all meetings both parties had agreed a final transfer buy-out clause fee and weekly wages for the midfielder.
Mazinho and agent stayed at the Lowry Hotel in the centre of Manchester before returning to Spain on Friday afternoon. Thiago’s father is now due to meet with Barcelona to express his son’s wishes to leave the club.
Barcelona are reportedly not happy with the way that Manchester United have gone about this business and are likely to offer Thiago a larger weekly wage to stay at the club, an offer to which his father is due to turn down in a favour of a move to Manchester for guaranteed first-team football every week.
