- Varela signs a five-year deal
Guillermo Varela had previously impressed Manchester United club staff back in May when he completed a two-week trial at Carrington.
The defender completed his medical on Friday morning and the agreement with his previous club and Manchester United was completed in the afternoon, rumoured to be a £1million signing on fee which another £450k will be payable dependent on appearances.
Speaking with the clubs website, Varela said:
“I’m very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the world, as everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues.”
“I’m very lucky there are quite a few Spanish-speakers here, it will certainly help me settle in.”
