David Moyes has this evening confirmed on MUTV that Robin van Persie is a doubt for the return of the Premier League when Manchester United face Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
van Persie scored a hat-trick for the Netherlands to become their leading goalscorer of all time against Turkey, but Moyes expressed concern over a kick in the calf.
Speaking on MUTV, David Moyes said:
“We’re a bit worried about Robin & the condition he’s come back in.
“Robin got a kick in the calf [in Holland vs Turkey] and he also had problems with his toes. We’ll see how he is.”
Robin van Persie did train with the full squad at Carrington this morning, but no doubt he will be assessed once against in the morning before the game.

The rest of the United squad returned without injury from the international break, which Moyes was more than happy with, he added:
“Sometimes you get the international break on the back of a bad result and sometimes off a good result. We went into it with a good result
“It’s always a concern, especially when you have so many players away like we do. I’ll monitor training, one or two are nursing knocks so we’ll need to look at it but hopefully they will be okay.”
