Harry Maguire update from lawyer & police spokesman

It has been a few days that Harry Maguire would like to forget in his personal life, but the Manchester United captain is looking like he will be charged with aggravated assault on holiday in Greece.

The 27-year old defender along with two of his mates were arrested on the Greek tourist island of Mykonos for an alleged assault on police officers, and then an attempt to bribe them with money to let him, as his friends go.

A statement from the Greek courts state:

‘A case file was opened against the trio for the occasional offences of violence against officials – court officials, disobedience, bodily harm, insult and attempted bribery of an employee’

‘The process is ongoing. Maguire is in great condition,’ Maguire’s lawyer, Konstantinos Darivas told the Greek edition of Gazzetta.

‘We’ll be able to say more tomorrow morning. He denies the allegations and I am fully convinced that tomorrow he will be released without any charges.’

A police spokesman, Petros Vassilakis, told media outlets:

‘There were several policemen there. At some point, one of the three members of the group – they were aged 27, 28, and 29 – threw a swing at one of the policemen and a fight ensued.

‘All of the three were arrested but during the effort to do so, the other two, including the football player, got violent also. They threw down at least two policemen, hit them with their fists and kicked them.

‘I can’t tell you what they were telling us. All English swear words against the authorities and against the work of the police. All three, including the football player, are being held in custody, locked up in Mykonos cell.’
