Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has attempted to play down the speculation linking the club with a gigantic deal for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, after reports in France stated that personal terms with the former Real Sociedad had been agreed.
Whilst the United boss didn’t mention Griezmann directly, which will hardly kill the speculation surrounding the deal, he deflected attention away from the news during his pre-match press conference on Friday:
“To be speaking about the transfer window when we are on the third of February makes no sense at all,” said Mourinho. “The transfer window opens in the summer and until the summer I have nothing to tell you. The only thing I can repeat is what I told you in the last day of January. I know what I want.
“I have worked with my players for about seven months or so. I know them better now than six or seven months ago. As for what I think we need, I’m very realistic. I know what are the impossible targets.”
