Manchester United leading the chase for Antoine Griezmann

Manchester United have continued their transfer activity beyond the close of the window. Two key positions that they need to strengthen are central defence and striker.

One top forward who United have been heavily linked to in the past is Atlético Madrid winger/striker Antoine Griezmann, and the rumours have flared up again.

Spanish sports news outlet Fichajes, have reported that Manchester United are currently favourites to sign the Frenchman from Atlético. It is said that the Red Devils have discussed contract terms with Griezmann and are close to agreeing a fee with the Spanish club.

However, the same website has reported that Real Madrid have made a move for Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

Nevertheless Griezmann would be a great addition to Manchester United, he can play anywhere across the front line and is a very good goal scorer.

Atlético signed him from Real Sociedad in 2014 after losing Diego Costa and David Villa. Since then he has scored 31 goals and set up 10 more in 65 games. This season he’s featured predominantly as a centre forward, behind Fernando Torres or Jackson Martínez.

Signing him would probably cost Manchester United somewhere in the region of £35 million.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
