Louis van Gaal wants two more wins

Manchester United drew 1-1 last night in Moscow. A hand ball by Anthony Martial in the box resulted in CSKA getting a penalty. The initial shot was stopped but Seydou Doumbia stormed in and scored on the rebound.

But just past the hour mark, Anthony Martial made up for his mistake. A curling cross from the edge of the box met the diving Frenchman who flicked the ball onto the back post and into the back of the net.

After a win, a draw, and a loss, Manchester United sit 2nd in Group B. Top of the group, VfL Wolfsburg, beat PSV Eindhoven last night to give them a 2 point lead over United and CSKA.

Manchester United manager, Louis van Gaal, stands by the draw in Moscow being a result, and that the Red Devils need to win their remaining 2 home games to progress to the next round.

The Dutchman said:

“I have said already yesterday that I would be happy with a draw. That is because I know we have two home matches, and we are very strong at home.

“So I hope that we can win these games, and then we are nearly qualified or we are already qualified depending on other results.

“I think we are on schedule, despite the defeat against PSV, which I still think was a little strange. I don’t have to describe that defeat.”

Manchester United’s next UEFA Champions league match is at Old Trafford, against CSKA Moscow.
