Dropped Commentator takes his Frustrations out on Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial signed for Manchester United for £36 million on deadline day. His first appearance was a late substitute run on against Liverpool. The teenager tore through two Liverpool defenders and scored with a very cool finish.

Since then, he has since scored 3 goals in just 3 appearances, in the most competitive top division in European football.

Michael Owen, who spent a brief spell at Manchester United, after signing on a free, now works for BT Sport, and has come under heavy fire for his awful commentary.

Manchester United’s game against VfL Wolfsburg last night not only showed a great performance from the Reds but the commentating was incredible.

Michael Owen was benched in the game for another ex-Manchester United player, Owen Hargreaves, and Hargreaves really stepped up. His commentary was spot on and was a real fresh air for those who have been forced to listen to Michael in midweek and on Saturday mornings.

The ex-Liverpool striker took his frustrations out on Anthony Martial post-match claiming that he hasn’t been impressed by the French teenager’s wonder start at Old Trafford.

Michael Owen said:

“I am not watching him and he is doing things I haven’t seen before,”

“He’s not taking my breath away. But you can’t pick any holes in his game right now, he has scored four.”

“He has done what he had to do, that was the question mark before he came because he didn’t have a goals coring record.”

Although Michael Owen was a top striker, back in the day, there’s no denying that Anthony Martial has had an incredible start to his career as a Red Devil.

Not only are his stats impressive but his confidence and composure on the field are that of a far more experienced player.

Plus, he’s completely changed United’s style of play; they are far more attacking, and more successful in those attacks, now that he’s leading the line.

Anthony Martial and Manchester United will be playing Arsenal Sunday afternoon, which luckily will be on Sky Sports 1 HD.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
