Manchester United pull off a kind draw

After Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Ipswich Town last night, at Old Trafford, they progressed to the 4th round of the Capital One League Cup.

The draw included big Premier League clubs such as Manchester City, who beat Sunderland 4-1 in the 3rd round and; Chelsea, who won 4-1 away to Walsall.

United’s cube out before their opponent’s, so the tie will be played at Old Trafford, and then the second cube was drawn. Manchester United drew Championship side Middlesbrough for the 4th round of the league cup.

This was a fantastic result considering that only 3 of the 15 teams in the draw were non-Premier League sides.

Louis van Gaal has used the League Cup as a bench mark of his team’s progression:

“Last year we were out in the first game against Milton Keynes away. At that time there were a lot of injuries and I played with my second team. We went out and the fans were not so pleased. I thought I should do it in another way. We play also at home so we have to make it enjoyable for the fans as well, our own fans. We have succeeded in doing that and that’s a major point for me. We have no injuries, we have won and we are in the next round.”

The rest of League Cup was drawn as follows:

Manchester City v Crystal Palace
Liverpool v Bournemouth
Manchester United v Middlesbrough
Everton v Norwich City
Southampton v Aston Villa
Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal
Hull City v Leicester City
Stoke City v Chelsea

Manchester United kick off against Middlesbrough during the week commencing the 26th October.
