For the entirety of the summer, and the tail end of last season, David De Gea has been linked to Real Madrid. Louis van Gaal hasn’t moved from his stance of David De Gea is not for sale.
Van Gaal expresses his respect for other football clubs, and how if United want a player that isn’t for sale, then they do not get him. The same respect should be given to Manchester United and their players. He stated:
“When Manchester United want a player, he shall come. Besides when a club is not selling.”
He followed this statement with:
“It is the same with us. We are not selling David De Gea.”
Despite the manager being adamant about De Gea not leaving Old Trafford, he has not started a single competitive game for United this season. The Dutchman claims that this is due to the transfer rumours putting the keeper in a poor state of mind, and so, not fit to play.
David De Gea’s understudy, Sergio Romero, has excelled in the role so far this season, keeping 3 clean sheets in 4 games. The only goal he has conceded was a flukey own goal from Michael Carrick that no keeper could do anything about.
