United fans in favour of Wayne Rooney as lone striker?

“Wayne Rooney up front” these are the words on 94% of Manchester United fans lips who voted in a recent poll, contrived by the Manchester Evening News.

Wayne Rooney is currently on 225 goals which is only 24 behind all-time leading scorer Bobby Charlton, with Robin Van Persie reportedly out for at least a month, Manchester United fans believe it is Wayne Rooney’s time to shine by keeping their captain playing up to, and not back in midfield.

United boss Louis Van Gaal has preferred Radamel Falcao as his strike force alongside Robin van Persie, but Falcao has only netted 4 goals this season and has frustrated a great number of United fans who have doubted the Colombian by questioning “Is Falcao cutting it?” – This controversial argument has gone on since Falcao joined on deadline day on loan from Monaco, with time running out on his loan move.

Manchester United fans are demanding action since the lifeless 2-1 loss to Swansea City that really lacked character from some United players. Some fans have gone as far as saying Wayne Rooney should start the game as a lone striker which would see future star James Wilson benched for the upcoming fixture against Sunderland, if he recovers from a knock he suffered in the under-21s.

Wayne Rooney has scored nine goals this season and seeing him move up to striker could potentially improve this goalscoring record, as United hunt for an imperative Champions League spot.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
