After Manchester United’s CEO, Ed Woodward released the information to the New York Stock Exchange on Monday morning, the official news broke that Louis van Gaal is the new manager at Old Trafford after the sacking of David Moyes.
Louis van Gaal
After weeks of speculation, the news had to be confirmed on the NYSE before the club could release the information to the media and general public that indeed, Louis van Gaal would be the new manager on £7million a year, on a three-year contract.
The Glazer family and Ed Woodward have put targets in place for Louis van Gaal over the next few seasons, with the league top of the list after a poor season, finishing 7th under David Moyes.
The new United manager met with his new assistant, Ryan Giggs on Wednesday after for a hour-and-a-half meeting to go over the summer transfer prospects along with the players that both wish to see leave the club. A big transfer budget has been made available for the club and they are hopeful that most of their targets can be sorted before the World Cup starts.
Louis van Gaal said:
“It was always a wish for me to work in the Premier League. To work as a manager for Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, makes me very proud. I have managed in games at Old Trafford before and know what an incredible arena Old Trafford is and how passionate and knowledgeable the fans are. This club has big ambitions; I too have big ambitions. Together I’m sure we will make history.”
Southampton left-back Luke Shaw is said to be the first of those big summer signings, after a £27million bid was rejected at the start of the week, Manchester United are set to bump their offer up to £30million, offering Shaw wages of £55,000-a-week on a five year deal. Again, a deal that the club are hopeful to sort in the next 7 days.

Van Gaal will be such a contrast to Moyes. I’m feeling quite positive.
Welcome total football from Ajax…
What a contrast to 12 months ago, was it a dream ? did the moyes reign really happen? sir alex just retired and we are still champions right?
Well now it,s an international boss and hopefully United will get back on the Euro track.Wont be the United we are used to though, that is gone forever.Just hope it does,nt end up with a team of boring super expensive pingpong passing like Bayern and Barca yawn.lets hope Giggs can get on with VG and give the English talent a look in.Can go either way with a bloke like Van Gaal and he will get everything Moyes got, good or bad.
