PICTURE: Jonny Evans ruled out for the rest of the season for Manchester United

Manchester United’s defender Jonny Evans has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to ankle ligament damage in which he picked up training at Carrington two-weeks ago.

Jonny Evans was pictured above, entering Old Trafford on Saturday with his wife Helen Evans, fit with a protective boot surrounding his right ankle. An injury in which interim manager Ryan Giggs ruled that he would not feature again for the rest of the season with only two matches left against Hull City and Southampton.

Evans has featured 23 times this season for Manchester United, scoring twice.

Louis Van Gaal is set to be announced over the next few days on the New York Stock Exchange and no doubt will have many players coming in and many outs over the summer.

Do you think Jonny Evans is good enough for Van Gaal’s starting XI next season? Comment in the section below.

I always thought he would go on a be a big player for Man Utd, but he has not managed it. Evans is not a young player anymore and I would say he has failed to step up and replace either Ferdinand or Vidic as the main centre back.

Louis Van Gaal will hopefully be confirmed tomorrow and we are going to need to make a lot of changes to the squad. However Evans is not one of them for this summer and he will stay, along with Jones and Smalling. Van Gaal will want to improve our defence, and its likely we will need a new centre back and a new left back. However I see him working with Evans, Smalling, Jones and Rafeal initially to see if he can get more out of them.

EVANS IS HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE THE AWKWARD JONES,THE MISTAKE RIDDEN SMALLING. MOYES CROCKED HIM AND RIO, VERY BADLY DUE TO HIS LAMENTABLE LACK OF INJURY MANAGEMENT.
VAN GAAL WILL PLAY HIM MORE THAN THE OTHER TWO,WHOM HAVE REGRESSED .EVANS POSITIONAL SENSE, DISTRIBUTION AND ALL ROUND GAME IS MUCH BETTER THAN JONES AND SMALLING WHO ARE SLIGHTLY BETTER THAN YOUNG ,NANI AND FELLAINI
