Having relieved David Moyes of his duties earlier this week and placing Ryan Giggs temporarily at the helm, somewhat surprisingly transfer rumours have been rife this week with a number of high profile names reportedly “on the verge of signing” for the soon to be deposed Champions of England.
With the British media repeatedly telling us that United are in desperate need of a central midfielder, it comes as a bit of a surprise then that Uruguay and Paris Saint Germain striker Edinson Cavani is now 7/2 to sign for United in the summer. With a wealth of talent up top already with Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez and RVP, a striker is certainly not what United need unless one or maybe two of the aforementioned were to move on. Hernandez has repeatedly been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and rumours surfaced at the weekend that Danny Welbeck was considering a change of scenery. United haven’t had a typical number 9 for a number of years however and this move could signify a change in tactics from the new manager to be. Let’s not get to carried away though as the eye watering figure of £54m has been mooted in order to prise the former Napoli striker away from the French capital.
Less surprising (to a degree) is the rumour that United are 90% of the way to completing a £30m move for Southampton’s promising English left back Luke Shaw. The self confessed Chelsea fan however would prefer a move to his favoured team and all indicators pointed towards this move going through in the summer. Shaw’s hopes may be dashed prematurely though as Mourinho’s men have been linked with a £15m move for young Spanish starlet Alberto Moreno from Sevilla who is also being courted by Real Madrid. The Spaniard would come at half the price and having built a commendable reputation in La Liga this season would be a very shrewd signing for Chelsea, especially considering they have another young star to be in Kurt Zouma arriving in the summer from St Etienne.
Twitter was awash with speculation that Patrice Evra had been offered a new 3 year deal with the club earlier in the week, although how much we can read into this no-one knows. If United were to bring in Shaw however, an experienced head such as Evra would be a perfect mentor for the youngster, providing the charismatic Frenchman discounts the last couple of seasons from the textbook!
The final rumour to have popped up (on my Twitter timeline at least) is the inevitable one of any Dortmund player, this time Marco Reus, being involved in a cash plus Shinji Kagawa move at the end of the season. It is no secret that Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the United number 26 and would do pretty much anything to take him back to the Westfallen where he had such a huge impact. Reus however is a hot property after last season and added a few zero’s onto his price tag with an excellent brace against Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter final this year so won’t come cheap even if Shinji was thrown in on the deal. Barcelona have also been rumoured to be monitoring the young German’s situation amid speculation that Pedro and Fabregas are unsettled in the Catalan capital and with FIFA postponing Barca’s transfer ban expect big moves from them in the summer.
All in all in judging from this early transfer madness, we can expect a bit of a roller-coaster of a summer ahead.

man utd must be very hot next seasons.
If Cavani is 7/2 to sign for United then he is about 1/6 not to sign. That makes him long odds on not to sign.
do we really need yet another striker??
What a disaster it has been this season, because now United will get a better manager and players for sure.It wont be the United we all loved,if ManC is anything to go by.The ootball will be better but it ont be ManU anymore.
