Manchester United defender set for new contract talks

Alexander Büttner is currently holding talks with Manchester United and David Moyes over the possibilty of a new contract, after it seemed he would be heading out of the club.

Manchester United made it no secret that they were after Leighton Baines from Everton during the summer transfer window, with a number of bids being rejected for the England left-back.

If Baines would of arrived these new contract talks may not have happened as it seemed that Büttner was heading out of the club, either on loan or a permanent deal.

Büttner was heavily linked with a move to Besiktas, with also a bid from Celtic coming into the club days before the end of the window. Now, he is more than happy that United have sat him down to talk about his situation.

Speaking with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Buttner said:

“On Wednesday I had a good talk with David Moyes.

“He told me that I had come far enough to play for Manchester United this season

“”He absolutely wanted me. I am a fully-fledged United player for him.

“Last season obviously turned out to be a good one for me. And that was noticed by United as well.

“They want to talk about my contract and that is an appreciation of me.”

With Patrice Evra the first choice at left-back, Büttner will now be seen as back up to the French International for the 2013/14 season alongside Fabio Da Silva.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
