Timing was right for Ferguson to retire insists Mark Hughes

Former red Mark Hughes has insisted that the time is right for Sir Alex Ferguson to retire from management.

The new broke this morning that the 71-year-old Scot would retire from Manchester United manager at the end of the season following 26 years in charge of the biggest club in football.

Mark Hughes, who played under Sir Alex Ferguson during two spells at Old Trafford, believes that the decision is right to retire now.

Speaking with Sky Sport News, Hughes said:

“As the hours have gone on you would probably say the timing is right for Sir Alex and United”

“They’ve had a great season, they’ve won the title and particularly bearing in mind that they have wrenched the Premier League crown from (Manchester) City which was mightily important for Sir Alex.”

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
