Phil Jones out for two-weeks with shingles

Phil Jones will be out of action for up to two weeks and miss the Champions League clash with Real Madrid after contracting shingles earlier this week.

Jones had to pull out of the England U21s after picking up shingles and has since returned to his Manchester home to recover.

Jones will miss United’s home game against Everton on Sunday and will not travel to Madrid when the squad fly out on Tuesday afternoon.

Stuart Pearce revealed to reporters:

“Jones picked up shingles and there’s not a lot we can do about it. It’s a shame because it makes us stronger when Phil’s here, that’s for sure. But it gives someone else a chance.”
