Ryan Giggs and Tom Cleverley make Team GB Olympics squad

Ryan Giggs and Tom Cleverley will get to play some international football this summer after all after coach Stuart Pearce selected them in the Team GB squad.

The pair were the only two United players to make the team following Chris Smalling’s injury and an agreement with the FA that Pearce would not select any players taken to the Euros, thereby ruling out Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young and Phil Jones.

Conveniently enough for the pair, their first game is at Old Trafford against Senegal on 26th July followed by games at Wembley against United Arab Emirates (29th July) and Uruguay in Cardiff (1st August) – which Giggs will be especially looking forward to.

In a potentially tiring schedule, should Team GB get to the final, they would have to play 6 games in 16 days with the Quarter-finals scheduled for 4th August, Semi-finals 7th August and the Final on August 11th.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
