Darmian has Settled in Straight Away

Of all of the £97.67 million spent on 5 first team players by Louis van Gaal this summer, Matteo Darmian, at only £12.6 million, has been the best of the lot.

The Italian right back was relatively unknown at the time of his transfer from Torino. But he has fit in with his big money Red Devil comrades almost seamlessly.

Not only has the 25 year old been crucial to United’s 3 clean sheets in 4 Premier League games; he has also filled a gapping hole in the Red’s defence. A hole left by club legend Gary Neville, way back in 2011.

Matteo has thanked the Manchester United staff, and his team mates, for helping him settle in at his new club in this foreign country:

“I settled in straight away at Manchester United, thanks also to my teammates and the staff who made me feel part of the group.”

“I’m someone who worked hard to get where I’m today and I want to continue that. MUFC is a beginning and not the apex of my career.”

The revelation that is Matteo Darmian, and Chris Smalling blossoming into the defender that Sir Alex saw him for, has done wonders for the Manchester United defence.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
