PREDICTED XI: Aston Villa vs Manchester United – Falcao, RVP & Rooney Start

United come into the game after a clinical and ruthless display against bitter rivals Liverpool. 6 wins out of 6 games and United find them 5 points behind Manchester City in 2nd and 8 points behind Chelsea in 1st. All the more reason for Manchester United to make it 7 out of 7 and keep the momentum going with a title challenge undoubtedly achievable at this moment. Aston Villa on the other hand come in to the game on the back of a Midlands Derby loss to West Bromwich Albion. Paul Lambert’s side is having and average season so far with consistent share of ups and downs.

Team News :

Manchester United : Both Angel Di Maria and Luke Shaw are back in training but it looks unlikely that either one of them would start against Aston Villa. Specially Luke Shaw considering the extent of the injury he suffered. Furthermore  Louis Van Gaal would not want to risk them considering the fixture congestion between Christmas and New Year period. Chris Smalling (Groin), Jesse Lingard (Ankle), Marcus Rojo (Thigh) and Daley Blind (Knee) are still out of contention. Marouane Fellaini is also likely to be sidelined due to illness.

Aston Villa : United old boy Kieran Richardson is suspended along with Alan Hutton while Tom Cleverley is ineligible to play against his parent club. On the injury front Joe Cole (Hamstring), Ashley Westwood (Knee), Nathan Baker (Knee),Philippe Senderos (Calf) and Libor Kozak (Leg) are all out of contention. Fabian Delph is likely to get his first start in 11 weeks and the villains could also see the return of captain Ron Vlaar to the starting lineup.

Predicted Lineups :

Manchester United :

Davd De Gea

Valencia   Jones   Evans   Young

RVP          Falcao

Aston Villa:

Key Battles : Christian Benteke vs Phil Jones and Jonny Evans

On his day Christian Benteke could be a real handful for any defender in the league. Phil Jones and Jonny Evans need to be a their best if they are to deal with his physicality. We have far too often seen the likes of Jones and Evans being bullied by physically strong front men in the past. United’s center backs need to be on their toes to stop Benteke winning the first ball and bringing Aston Villa’s quicker players in to the game.

  1. Pls wl advice we shud strt Rafeal in place of Valencia, his our key rightback…. wl advice he shud be givn a chance to play cos is bin a while besids de guy is still good….
LVG pls strt Rafael in place of Anthonio Valencia

  2. Most inform in the League? Yawnited were destroyed by Southampton and Arsenal and have gotten luckyin every game other than that! Wait until you come across City or Chelsea! Then we can all laugh at Man Ushited getting destroyed!!

  3. If the trio of ;RVP,WAZZA & FALCAO !starts,i definately have to render a sympathetic prayer to villa.GOD, have mercy on them 2only swallow 5goals!And i prophesy “FALCAO’z” hearttrick!

  4. @Macca: The same thing was said before ManUtd played Chelsea and City a few weeks ago (oh wait until u meet City and Chelsea). We drew 1-1 vs Chelsea and lost 1-0 to City dispite being down to 10 men. That’s not exactly a “killing”. The team is winning ugly but a win is a win.

  5. One more thing @Macca. When City or Chelsea scrape out results, ppl like you say they “find a way to win or they grind out results”. Yet when ManUtd does wins ugly, ppl like you say we are lucky. Give me a break. #GGMU.

  6. All I have to say lvg should critically look at d likes of rvp, rroney and falcao upfront is a danger coz when selfishness sets in everybody wants to b on d score sheets….. So lvg should b carefull ob allowing such a selection to proceed

  7. whenever man u wins pple always enphasized on d word luck bt hav gat news for yu jux understand that the red devils are back nd we wil continue winnin

  8. I think we should not celebrate yet despite winning 6 out of 6. We still have issues at the back with defending and can easily be exposed. LvG should give Falcao a good run of games. High time the guy justify his price tag. Good luck against Villa.
