Gerard Pique return to Manchester United?

According to The Express, Manchester United are lining up a sensational return for Barcelona star Gerard Pique in the upcoming January transfer window.

Many of us Manchester United fans know that Gerard Pique was one of our up-and-coming stars while he was at the club, but he wanted to move back to FC Barcelona after spending 4 years in the red part of Manchester.

In the four years at Manchester United, Pique played just 22 matches. The number of games was never the problem for Pique, though – the problem was home sickness. Pique missed Spain and FC Barcelona, which is the reason for him never becoming the world-beater that Sir Alex thought he could become at Old Trafford. Six years after his return to Barcelona, there are rumours that Manchester United are preparing a bid for the 27-year-old defender.

Gerard Pique has failed to make an impression under new boss Luis Enrique, and it seems like Enrique prefers to play Mascherano and Mathieu as the starters in the centre of the Catalonian defence. The Express doesn’t say anything about a price-tag or how much Barcelona would be willing to sell for, so this is a rumour we should take with a pinch of salt.

But, it isn’t a secret that Manchester United have had major problems in defence this season, conceding eight goals in five games. The United backline does also feature injury prone defenders such as Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans. Manchester United should be looking for new defenders, and if Pique is available, we should pay the price to bring him back to Manchester.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!

Pique & Shakira would fit right in we’ve got half of Spain & Latin America in our squad anyway, Manchester is basically little South America!

Wasn’t he a disruptive presence in the dressing room last time round after he came from his loan spell, which is why Sir Alex was happy to let him go. We have had enough problems behind the scenes recently!
