Vidić calls for caution over seven-point lead

Manchester United’s Nemanja Vidić has issued a warning to his team-mates as to not get to carried away with the seven-point lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League as they go into the New Year on top.

You only have to look back to last season when Manchester United were eight points ahead of Manchester City with six games remaining, only to let those points slip as the noisy neighbours took there first Premier League title on goal difference.

Vidić believes that experience will help them not make the same mistake again.

Speaking with MUTV, Nemanja said:

“It is good to have this [seven-point] advantage but we have to be careful, there is still a long way to go. We have the experience of last year when we were eight points in front and in the end it didn’t finish well.”

Manchester United’s next fixture is tomorrow with an away match against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium.
