Manchester United’s Shinji Kagawa has blamed a “miserable performance” as Japan lost 2-1 to Mexico in the Confederations Cup.

After the game, Shinji Kagawa admitted that he was unhappy with the Japan’s team display and hinted that fatigure may have played a big part.
He said:
“We played fuzzily; even when we attacked, [Okazaki] was the only one giving his all and it feels like … what on earth did we come here to do?
“It was a miserable performance.
“We didn’t have anything left and lost in a very Japanese fashion. We tried hard but we lost.”
The Manchester United midfielder stated that they needed to be more clinical in front of goal, he added:
“We had some good chances in our build-up and it felt like both teams were drifting a bit so, if we’d been able to score first … we weren’t able to score in those situations in all three matches, so it’s a problem we have to consider
“At minimum, to beat a team like Brazil we have to improve individually and as a team, and today we saw again that if we don’t fight as a team we can’t win; in the second half it felt like Mexico wanted to win more.”
