Former Manchester United player Ruud Van Nistelrooy has urged Wayne Rooney to leave the club if he is not 100% committed.
Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson claimed that Wayne Rooney did indeed put in a transfer request before the end of the season and before the reds boss made his official announcement that he would be retiring.
New United manager David Moyes is currently on holiday with his family in Barbados and is not likely to address the rooney issue until he officially takes over on July 1st.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who left Manchester for Real Madrid back in 2006, says his former strike partner must decide his own fate.
Speaking after the legends game at Old Trafford, Ruud said:
“It is a matter of how he feels.
“If he feels he is committed to the club I think there is an opening.
“If he says otherwise I don’t think there is a future for him, but it is up to him.
“I think the fans would love him to stay but it depends on the commitment.
“If he is fully here everyone loves him but when he is not fully committed it is probably better to move on.”
