Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney wants nothing more than to be successful with England.
During his international career, Wayne Rooney has scored 35 goals and gained 81 caps, the striker is hotly tipped to surpass Sir Bobby Charlton’s scoring tally of 49.
A tally that Rooney himself doesn’t care too much about, he wants success.
England were held to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night and now fly out to face Brazil on Sunday night.
Speaking with Sport magazine, Wayne Rooney said:
“Some people talk about records, but I’m not really too fussed, I’ve always felt that, to be successful, you have to win trophies.
“I could end my career with England being record goalscorer and maybe even record caps-holder, but if you’re not going to be successful, then it’s pointless.
“That’s what I play for England for: to try and help England be successful. That’s the aim. It’s not to see how many caps or goals I can get – it’s to see if I can get a winner’s medal.”
