Sir Alex Ferguson has been quick to deny the rumours that Manchester United have made a down payment to bring Radamel Falcao to Manchester in the summer.
Spanish daily newspaper Marca were first off the mark at the start of last week to brake a story that Manchester United were very close to agreeing a deal and had also made a down payment, this media story spread quickly through the English press also.
The front page of Marca.
The British media not only ran with the same story but also were quick to report that this could be the end of Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez at United, but at the weekly press conference ahead of Manchester United traveling to Stoke, Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to deny any rumours.
He said:
“Do you honestly believe that? [Falcao]”
“Really? It does amaze me that you come up with that one.”
Time will tell on this one as a Atletico Madrid source seems to be the one that started these rumours stating that United have already agreed a down-payment to bring Falcao to Old Trafford.
One reply on “Falc-no - Sir Alex Ferguson denies Falcao interest”
It was not an “Atletico source” but a Marca source. Marca also run a betting agency and they started the rumour which resulted in a rush to Marca the bookies from Marca the news source. How convenient. They made their own rumour and cashed in on the bets.
