Ryan Giggs played in his 1000th career match against Real Madrid on Tuesday night at Old Trafford and to mark the occasion he is reportedly meant to have given ex team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo his match shirt signed by the entire Manchester United squad.
As you can see from the photographs below, as Ronaldo returned to Manchester Airport straight after the game with the rest of the Real Madrid team he is clutching a bag with his much treasured new gift in.
Ronaldo said after the game:
“It was an emotional moment for me. I just have one word to say – unbelievable. What the supporters do to me is they make me feel shy, it’s respect for the affection that people gave me here over many years. Those are feelings that you don’t forget”
Ronaldo scored the winning goal for Real Madrid in a game that will be remembered for the wrong reasons as referee Cuneyt Cakir sent of Luis Nani in the second half.
