As we draw a close to 2012 and with Manchester United seven-points clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League, we have sat down to take a look at some of the best moments during the year.
With goals flying for Manchester United we have taken a look back through them all to find the goal of the year, but, the goal really does go with the story of the year for the club … The £24million transfer of Robin van Persie for Arsenal.
Manchester United were 1-0 down in the first home fixture of the 2012/2013 season, until Robin van Persie started his United career off in style with a fantastic first time shot angling away from the keeper into the corner of the net.
It may not be the best goal that Manchester United have scored, but the atmosphere around Old Trafford after that goal was something to be witnessed and that is why we have chosen it as the goal of 2012.
