Nemanja Vidic is set to return for Manchester United this weekend with the home fixture against Sunderland in the Premier League.
Last Tuesday Vidic was pictured in the media training before the visit of Cluj to Manchester, but Ferguson dismissed that Nemanja would not be ready to face Cluj or Manchester City over the last week.
Since then, he has been training every day at Carrington Training Complex and going from strength-to-strength.
Vidic himself, has not featured for Manchester United since our home win in the Champions League over Galatasaray SK, shortly after he went for his knee operation which has kept him out this long for the club.
Vidic could come in this Saturday to replace Jonny Evans, who is currently sidelined and has not trained all week due to a hamstring strain.
Sir Alex Ferguson said at last weeks press conference about Vidic’s comeback:
“To put him in at City for his first game back would be crazy but I think the Sunderland game definitely.”
“Evans had a hamstring problem [against City], he got it in the first half in a challenge from Balotelli but he played on while I had Chris Smalling warming up.
“It’s okay if you get through the first half but if you try to start again in the second half after cooling down, it can be a problem. So I knew he’d have to come off.”
