Speaking at his press conference yesterday, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

“It may be a blessing, He can concentrate on his fitness in the gym now in particular because he’s a bit behind other players.”

“He was in yesterday, It’s nothing serious on the actual gash, it’s a bad one but it was treated carefully and very quickly and we don’t expect any complications”

“The fact it’s a gash and not a ligament, muscle or joint injury means he can do a lot of work in the gym so he should be back in four weeks.”

Rumours had started all over social media website Twitter that Rooney could be on his way out of Old Trafford after being dropped for the Fulham game, rumours which Wayne himself saying:

“Read the nonsense in the papers and hear what people have to stay. Absolute rubbish. #heretostay”

The lay off and gym recovery can be a blessing in disguise for Wayne, getting back to full fitness to start off the partnership for Manchester United with £24m man Robin Van Persie.
