Fiorentina’s director, Daniele Prade, has affirmed that the club remains unacquainted with any offers for Sofyan Amrabat, notwithstanding the ongoing conjecture encircling the midfielder’s prospective departure.
While the Morocco international continues to captivate substantial attention, Manchester United’s connection to him remains robust. Additionally, a recent report suggested that Liverpool initiated discussions to explore the feasibility of acquiring him prior to the culmination of the transfer window.
In light of this, Prade has unveiled Amrabat’s eagerness to depart the Purples this summer. Nonetheless, the club has yet to receive any formal proposition for the midfielder’s talents.
Prade stated,
“The situation is clear. He wants to join a top club and we want to satisfy him, but if we receive no offers, he will stay with us. We don’t have a player like him in the team.”
Amrabat, aged 26, significantly contributed to Morocco’s journey to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, thereby sparking conjecture about a prospective move to Barcelona in January.
Subsequently, he remained with Fiorentina and notably excelled during the 2022-23 season, amassing 49 appearances across all competitions. His performances were instrumental in Fiorentina’s progress to the finals of both the Coppa Italia and the Europa Conference League.
Man United’s summer acquisitions encompass Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund. There is also the possibility of Jonny Evans inking a short-term contract soon. However, it is reported that head coach Erik ten Hag is resolute in securing a defensive midfielder before the transfer window concludes, particularly given Fred’s departure.
Ten Hag remarked on Friday that Man United would be poised to “strike” in the transfer market if a suitable opportunity arises within the subsequent few weeks.
Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek’s future remains a subject of speculation, and both Brandon Williams and Eric Bailly have purportedly been informed of their eligibility for departure.
With conjecture suggesting that Amrabat’s valuation could be below £30 million due to his contract expiring next June, Man United’s efforts are restrained by the confines of Financial Fair Play regulations.
Liverpool, in a recent announcement, confirmed the acquisition of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart. Nevertheless, the Reds are projected to further augment their central midfield prior to the transfer window’s culmination.
Amid this backdrop, Amrabat is said to have signalled that Manchester United is his preferred choice. Nonetheless, Ten Hag’s side could face the prospect of relinquishing the Moroccan to their primary rivals.
Fiorentina’s Serie A campaign for 2023-24 is set to commence against Genoa on Saturday evening. It remains to be seen whether Amrabat will participate, notwithstanding the ongoing conjecture surrounding his future.
