Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a transfer to United over the last 12 months. This season is far from over but with the signing of Fernandes and Ighalo’s loan deal, United’s season is back on track.
Sancho is regarded as one of the brightest prospects out of all the current crop of English players. He is of course, well acquainted with Manchester, having spent two years in Manchester City’s youth team. Aged just 17, he saw that his chances of breaking through were limited at City and he felt he was ready for the next step up to the top level of football.
Premier League betting odds show that Man U are now backed by the bookies to reach the top four and qualify for the Champions League, chances that will go up further still if City’s appeal gets dismissed. Now that we have secured a loan extension for the highly impressive Ighalo, transfer plans for the summer window can be focused on.

With City unwilling to allow him to move to a Premier League rival, Sancho pushed through a move to Borussia Dortmund. His gamble paid off and the Bundesliga team gave him the opportunity he craved, being handed 12 appearances in his first season.
Sancho’s hot form in the Bundesliga
He has since broken into the senior England squad and has established himself as one of the best players in the Bundesliga. In his first 28 games this season, he weighed in with 17 goals and 17 assists, so he is definitely a player that could add a new dimension at United.
Marcus Rashford recently spoke about how he would love to link up with Sancho at United and the pair would certainly be an exciting prospect for both the Red Devils and England. Both players were recently included in the top 10 most valuable list, with Sancho being named third most valuable in the top five football leagues and Rashford in fifth place.

Are there any reasons not to sign Sancho?
Sancho is still just 20 years old and could develop even further. The only negative (aside from the huge fee) that potential buyers could be concerned about is that Sancho has occasionally got into trouble. His Dortmund teammate Emre Can recently said Sancho needs to grow up, in reference to him breaking lockdown rules to have his hair cut (and sharing this on Instagram).
He was also dropped by Dortmund earlier in the season for apparently turning up late for training after he had played for England, for which he was also fined by his club. Solskjaer has spoken about how he has had to deal with bad apples in the squad previously and how he wants to build a squad that reflects his values. So, the big question is: can Sancho’s misdemeanours be put down to youthful naivety, or could he rock the boat at United?
He is likely to command a very high transfer fee when he does leave Dortmund and he won’t be short of suitors. United really don’t need another signing in the mould of Pogba’s big-money move that failed to justify the financials. However, at 20 Sancho has a long career ahead of him and Solskjaer could turn him into United’s new Ronaldo – that would definitely justify the big transfer fee.
