3 signings that would make Manchester United title challengers

Manchester United have had a tough time of things over the past few years, with the club struggling to match the trophy-laden years of the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

However, there have been signs recently that the Red Devils are finally heading in the right direction under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Chelsea with nine games still to play this season.

They are also through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and well-placed to make progress to the last eight of the Europa League.

Success in the Premier League remains the number one priority for the club, so read on as we look at three signings who would make United title challengers once again.

Erling Braut Haaland – Borussia Dortmund

United are likely to be third favourites with bemybet.com to win next season’s title, but their odds would undoubtedly be slashed if they had Haaland in their forward ranks.

Solskjaer was eager to sign the Norwegian during the January transfer window, but was left frustrated as he decided to join Borussia Dortmund instead.

The 19-year-old has been in stunning form since moving to Germany, scoring 12 goals in just 11 appearances for the club.

The news that he had a £63 million release clause inserted into his contract is positive news, despite the fact United missed out on paying just £18.5m for him just a few months ago.

Jadon Sancho – Borussia Dortmund

Sancho has also emerged as a major target for United and his friendship with Marcus Rashford could help them secure his services.

The 20-year-old has been in scintillating form for Dortmund this term, scoring 17 goals and creating 19 more in all competitions.

The forward is unlikely to come cheaply, with a £120m fee and £400,000 per week wage needed to get him on board.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with Sancho, but neither are thought to be willing to fund what would be an eye-watering financial package.

Matthijs de Ligt – Juventus

The Dutch defender is another player United previously missed out on, but they could have better luck second time around.

de Ligt has struggled to settle at Juventus following his £67.5m move from Ajax and a switch to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

The 20-year-old would bolster a defence that has been much-improved since the arrival of Harry Maguire and they could form a formidable pairing.

With Juve retaining an interest in Paul Pogba, a player-plus-cash deal involving de Ligt would be perfect for United and give them extra funds to play with in the transfer market.
