Zlatan Ibrahimovic faces the possibility of a three-game domestic ban after the Manchester United striker was charged for violent conduct by the FA. The incident occurred during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Bournemouth, with Ibrahimovic elbowing Tyrone Mings in the head before half-time. Mings has also been charged, with the defender’s ban potentially far more serious after he was deemed to have deliberately stamped on Ibrahimovic’s head moments before their second coming-together.
If found guilty, the Swedish striker would miss domestic games against Chelsea in the FA Cup, and Premier League games against Middlesbrough and West Bromwich albion, but he would remain available for the two-legged Europa League last 16 tie against FC Rostov.
The potential ban comes at a bad time for United boss Jose Mourinho, who has to navigate four games in the space of 11 days in three separate competitions before the next international break in two weeks times.
