Ashley Young has sustained a calf injury today which will rule him out of Manchester United’s game against Everton.
The injury could also keep him out for the Champions League group stage match against CSKA Moscow in midweek.
Ashley Young was a constant feature at left wing last season. His performances were deemed to be so good, by manager Louis van Gaal, that record transfer signing Ángel Di María could not regain his favoured position.
This was said to be a key factor to him falling out with the Dutch coach and then leaving the club for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Young has not been able to claim his left wing place this season, as youngster Memphis Depay has kept him out.
His position at left back, in the Arsenal game, was identified as a weak spot by the Gunners, who capitalised on his inferior defensive abilities. Having said that, Arsenal mainly attacked through the vacant midfield, where they could free roam without any resistance.
Ashley Young’s injury is said to be tightness in his calf so it shouldn’t keep him out of action for too long.
