David De Gea
Antonio Valencia, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian
Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ander Herrera
Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney, Memphis Depay
Anthony Martial
Darmian played well at left back, against Sunderland, he can use both feet apparently. Should he start there again, Valencia would most likely hold down the right back position again. However, Ashley Young could just as easily start at left back instead of the Italian.
Louis van Gaal should be starting his core centre back pairing, of Blind and Smalling but, it’s very likely that, if United are wining by 2 goals or more, Phil Jones will be subbed on for one of them, to help him return to match fitness.
Bastian and Ander seem to be the midweek duo, as part of Louis’ squad rotation system. It means that Schweinsteiger and Carrick’s age and fitness doesn’t impact them as much, as they each get a week long break between games.
Juan Mata should keep his spot on the right wing. In his last 2 Premier League games, the Spaniard has scored twice and assisted twice. He also won the Man of the Match award on Saturday.
Up top, Martial and Rooney look to further enhance their strike partnership, with the French teen still looking for his first ever Champions League goal.
Yesterday, all of Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera were absent from training but, only Rojo is believed to have an injury serious enough to stop him from playing.
However, if the above players do miss the game, Darmian would play in his familiar right back position, whilst Ashley Young comes in at left back. With Carrick and Herrera out, the midfield would be manned by Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
Only Louis van Gaal really knows who he’s going to start with, as he explained to a reporter earlier today:
A reporter asks Louis van Gaal for his #mufc starting XI: "I never give the team so you'll have to wait and see."

One reply on “Manchester United Predicted XI – Bastian and Herrera In”
Yep, I’d go with that. Possibly Young for Valencia, but otherwise OK
