James Wilson to be Loaned Out

Manchester United have lacked goals this season. Now they’ve sold Javier Hernández, loaned out joint top goal scorer this season Adnan Januzaj, and now top striking prospect James Wilson is on his way out.

Fans expected LvG to sign a big name striker at the start of the season when he didn’t sign up Falcao and sold Robin van Persie. But since, he’s stated that he doesn’t need another striker. But now United are shipping off 2 more strikers with only one reportedly coming in, Anthony Martial.

Anthony Martial is one of the best young strikers in the world, with almost unlimited potential but, if he’s played alongside Rooney, which would be best for both of the forwards, United would have no back up strikers now that Wilson is going.

James Wilson played 18 games for the Red Devils first team, scoring 4 goals and for the U21s he scored 16 in 29, which includes UEFA Youth appearances. He has also just been called up to make his debut for the England U21’s by coach Gareth Southgate.

He’s obviously a very talented striker, despite making his way through the youth system as a left winger. His speed and shot power are his best attributes but he needs to gain more experience and physical prowess to succeed in the Manchester United first team.

As is the case with Adnan Januzaj, Wilson should have been loaned out before he became a part of the United first team, as was the way with Sir Alex. Player would go and get regular play time and experience at Championship or lower Premier League clubs. Then they would have a better chance to challenge for a first team place.

James Wilson going on loan is well overdue but will prove to be extremely beneficial to the young Englishman’s development, if he gets regular games, and hopefully next year, or the year after, he’ll be able to content for a regular first team spot.

Manchester United’s regular customers this window, West Bromwich Albion, are favourites to sign up Wilson for the season, but Spurs and new comers Bournemouth are also in the running.

Enjoy that? Give it a share!
