A.S. Monaco wunderkind Anthony Martial has left the French national squad to fly to England and sign for Manchester United. Finally United sign a striker.
Anthony Martial is big, strong and has a great eye for goal. Only 19, he is one of the top rated young strikers in the world. Monaco initially signed him from Lyon in 2013, for £3.5 million.
Turns out, van Gaal was just bluffing us when it came to his statements claiming that he didn’t want a striker.
The young Frenchman is a true striker; he’ll wait up top, and play off of the defenders. His blistering pace makes him great on the turn. HE started all of Monaco’s Champions League Qualifiers, scoring once and setting up another.
Last season, just aged 18, he scored 12 goals and got 5 assists, despite often being used as a sub. He made his debut for Lyon the day after he turned 17 and has played for the French youth teams at every level, from U16’s to U21’s.
Following a lot of interest from sides like AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, Monaco signed the striker up to a new contract at the end of June this summer. His new contract raised his minimum release fee and would have kept him at the club until 2019.
Martial wears the number 9 at Monaco, which he’ll be able to adopt at Manchester United. Hopefully he’ll get plenty of game time for the Red Devils as he has a lot of potential but, being only 19 and quite inexperienced, he’s not one for the starting eleven every week.
In time, he will prove to be a great signing for Manchester United, but hopefully van Gaal’s got his sights set on another striker before the end of the window.

Great article! Looking forward to watching him play, sounds like the type of striker that will do well in front of Rooney.
