Manchester United are reportedly through Setanta UK keen on Jordi Alba and are hoping to hijack Barcelona’s bid to sign the Valencia defender.
Barcelona are hot favourites to land the 23-year-old but Valencia are unhappy with their reluctance to meet the €15million valuation, and that could open the door for the Red Devils to swoop.
It is well known that Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to draft in a new left-back this summer and Spanish international Alba, who can also play in midfield, is on his list of targets.
Even though Barca are well down the line with the transfer, there is still a chance that Ferguson could nip in and hijack the deal if he matches Valencia’s asking price.
Ferguson is also keen on Everton star Leighton Baines but the Toffees are holding out for £15million and the Reds boss believes Alba would represent better value.
