David Moyes has today stated that he will look to strengthen his Manchester United during the January transfer window, but only if the right players become available. The United manager also pointed out that it is pointless for reporters to ask him about Leighton Baines joining in January, if Everton are determined to keep him.
Speaking at Friday’s press conference at Carrington ahead of his squad travelling down to London to face Tottenham Hotspur away, Moyes said:
“We would like to [bring in some new players], but only if the right players are available – either way there is no guarantee.”
The boss also openly praised birthday boy Ryan Giggs, who turns 40-years-old today. Moyes described the Welshman as undoubtedly “one of the best”.
When asked about whether Ryan Giggs would be offered another year contract at the end of the season he added:
“To be playing so well at his age is terrific and he is a great example to the younger players.”
“When you get to this stage [in his career], you always make a decision at the end of the season. There will be no quick decision.”
