Marcus Rashford happy to take pay cut for transfer away from United

Marcus Rashford is reportedly open to taking a pay cut in order to secure a move to Barcelona before the January transfer window closes.

The England forward has not featured for Manchester United since December 12, with head coach Ruben Amorim choosing to overlook him due to lacklustre performances in training and his overall attitude around the club.

Amorim recently admitted that he was uncertain whether the 27-year-old would be leaving before the end of the winter window, saying: “I don’t know. I really don’t know.”

When asked whether Rashford would be reintegrated into the team if he remains at United after the deadline, Amorim added: “Guys, it’s 10 days, 10 days until the end and then we will see at the end of the window and then we will talk about that in the moment.”

With AC Milan no longer in the running, Rashford has ruled out a move to either Turkey or Saudi Arabia, leaving him with fewer options as the transfer deadline approaches.

Rashford ‘prepared to take pay cut’ to secure Barcelona move

Barcelona continues to be linked with Rashford, although the La Liga giants need to offload several players to free up space in their budget, a task which is proving tricky so close to the transfer window closing.

Both Andreas Christensen and Ansu Fati are being touted for potential moves, and if either player departs, Rashford’s transfer to Barcelona could become more viable for manager Hansi Flick.

According to The Daily Star, Rashford ‘dreams’ of a move to Barcelona above all other clubs, and he is said to be willing to accept a reduction in his current wages to make the switch happen this month.

The 27-year-old is reportedly earning around £315,000 a week at Manchester United, but it is believed he is prepared to renegotiate his salary to facilitate a move to the Catalan club, likely on loan.

The Independent reports that United have received 20 inquiries for Rashford this January, but most of these were informal, with the forward apparently uninterested in the majority of the offers.

Rashford has been linked with moves to Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United this month, but United are said to be unwilling to let him move within the Premier League.

This leaves Barcelona as the most likely option for Rashford in the final stages of the window, with Borussia Dortmund priced out of a deal and Juventus only recently being linked with an interest.

So far this season, Rashford has scored seven goals for United, but he has not featured in the Premier League since early December. He will again miss out when the Red Devils face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.
