Jadon Sancho set for show down talks with Erik ten Hag

Manchester United’s Jadon Sancho is set to have a direct conversation with the club’s head coach, Erik ten Hag, on Monday to iron out their recent public disagreements.

Sancho was conspicuously missing from the team that faced Arsenal last weekend. Post the 3-1 loss to Arsenal, Ten Hag attributed Sancho’s omission to less-than-stellar performances during training sessions.

However, the 23-year-old winger responded on Sunday evening via social media, challenging his coach’s words, thus intensifying the rift between the pair.

The past week has seen rampant rumours regarding Sancho’s next move. Sources suggest that a transfer to the Saudi Pro League was on the cards for him before the league’s recent transfer deadline. Reportedly, Al Ettifaq engaged in discussions about loaning the ex-Manchester City starlet, but things fell through when United proposed a £50m buy option.

Both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are keenly observing the unfolding drama, potentially eyeing a transfer during the upcoming January window.

The Telegraph reports that Monday will see a crucial conversation between Sancho and Ten Hag, as they seek to clear the air. It remains to be seen if Sancho intends to retract his remarks, given that his statement remains prominently displayed on his X account, previously known as Twitter.

Manchester United is gearing up for their Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on September 16. Ten Hag finds himself at a crossroads regarding Sancho’s role in the upcoming matches. Despite the forward’s online comments post the Arsenal game, it’s rumoured that Ten Hag might be willing to offer Sancho another opportunity.

In the wake of these events, Sancho was expectedly excluded from the recent England lineup, with the national team’s head coach, Gareth Southgate, favouring other forwards.

Despite Sancho’s commendable pre-season form for Manchester United, he started off the bench in the initial three Premier League games and was completely sidelined for the Arsenal clash.

Sancho, since his transfer from Dortmund in 2021, has netted 12 goals and provided six assists in 82 outings across all competitions for Manchester United.

Given the current state of affairs, there might be an opening for Sancho to regain his starting spot, especially with fellow forward Antony taking time off amidst allegations against him.
