In the aftermath of the summer transfer window shutting its doors, Manchester United have officially unveiled the shirt numbers for five of their players for the 2023/24 campaign.
On the final day of the transfer window, the Red Devils completed the signings of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, defenders Sergio Reguilon and Jonny Evans, and Moroccan midfield maestro Sofyan Amrabat. These fresh faces have added depth and quality to Erik ten Hag’s side as he embarks on his sophomore season in charge of the club.
During his Friday press conference, the gaffer confirmed that Bayindir, Reguilon, and Evans are all in the mix for the away clash against Arsenal today, on Sunday the 3rd of September. Also returning to action is the club’s new striker, Rasmus Hojlund, who has successfully recuperated from injury.

Before the lads take on the Gunners, we are pleased to disclose the shirt numbers for our last-minute signings, along with the numbers for Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
For his debut season at Old Trafford, Rasmus Hojlund will don the no.11 shirt, a number he proudly sports for the Danish national team. Interestingly, Hojlund has never worn the 11 at club level before, having only worn the jersey during his stint with FC Copenhagen’s U-19 squad.
Since breaking into the first team, Garnacho has had the no.49 on his back. However, this season will see the Argentine forward switching to the no.17, joining an elite list of players who have worn that number for the Reds.
The no.17 shirt has a rich history at United; Fred, who recently moved to Fenerbahce, wore it for five years. Before him, the likes of Nani, Daley Blind, and the legendary Andy Cole have all adorned the jersey.
In a significant development, our new netminder, Altay Bayindir, will take on the prestigious no.1 shirt for his initial season at United. The keeper, who will now have his surname ‘Bayindir’ printed on the jersey, joins the ranks of United legends such as David De Gea, Peter Schmeichel, and Edwin van der Sar, the latter being his boyhood hero.
Sergio Reguilon, on a season-long loan from Tottenham, will wear the no.15 jersey. This is a first for the Spanish left-back, who will inherit a number last worn by Marcel Sabitzer during his half-season loan spell.
Jonny Evans, who penned a one-year contract upon his return to Old Trafford, has been allocated the no.35 shirt. This is a number he sported during his time in United’s youth system, although he wore different numbers—4, 23, and 6—during his initial period with the senior squad between 2007 and 2014.
Lastly, Sofyan Amrabat’s squad number remains under wraps and will be officially revealed once all the administrative aspects of his loan move from Fiorentina are finalised.
